Vanray is a full-service architecture firm founded by Gregory Van Grunsven and based in Los Angeles. Committed to innovation and site sensitivity, Vanray offers user-focused environments that are affordable, distinctive, and sustainable. Specializing in contemporary design, Vanray caters to the Southern California lifestyle to maximize year-round indoor-outdoor living, playing on the light and natural elements that make each building unique.

The light in Los Angeles remains an endless subject, much admired for its unique shimmer and dreamy haze. “Van” a Dutch word for “from” and “Ray” meaning ”light that appears to radiate from a luminous body” are combined to define the creative drive behind Vanray designs.

Our experience designing under various challenging conditions has taught us that there is always potential for an inspiring transformation of space. Consequently, we take a hard-driving, optimistic approach to solving problems and do not stop until a successful result is achieved.

Vanray’s diverse portfolio covers a wide variety of projects that include ground-up residential hillside design, residential remodel, urban infill sites, tenant improvement, and commercial spaces.
